Description

Smith Lake Park is a premier managed recreational destination situated on the shores of Lewis Smith Lake, known for having some of the cleanest and deepest emerald-green waters in the United States. Owned and operated by Cullman County, the park serves as a massive hub for outdoor activity, featuring a diverse range of accommodations including 219 full-service RV sites, 61 primitive tent sites, and 9 climate-controlled cabins. The property is characterized by its rolling terrain, mature pine forests, and extensive shoreline, providing a scenic backdrop for both short-term vacationers and long-term guests. The park is particularly famous for hosting major regional events, such as its massive 4th of July Fireworks Festival and professional fishing tournaments, which draw large crowds to its waterfront.

The facility is equipped with high-capacity infrastructure designed for family fun and water access, including a 90-foot-wide, six-lane public boat launch that can accommodate large fishing rigs and tournament traffic. Guest amenities are extensive, featuring a seasonal Olympic-sized swimming pool with a high-dive, a public fishing pier, and multiple playgrounds. For additional recreation, the park offers an 18-hole miniature golf course, pickleball courts, and canoe or kayak rentals for exploring the lake's many coves and inlets. The on-site camp store provides essential supplies, ice, and snacks, while eight large pavilions and a chapel are available for family reunions and community gatherings.

What to Know Before You Go

Site Variety: While there are over 200 full-service sites, some guests note that specific RV lots can be uneven; it is recommended to bring leveling blocks or inquire about "Big Rig Friendly" sections when making reservations.

Seasonal Pool: The swimming pool and splash pad typically operate from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Connectivity: Due to its nestled location near the lake, cellular signal can be weak for certain carriers, and the park does not currently provide public Wi-Fi at the campsites.
